Hunter Class of 2025
Where are you from? How did you first hear about the Academy?
I am from South Bend, Indiana and I was first introduced to the Academy through a letter I received in the mail.
What made you decide to apply?
I spent a lot of time researching the Academy and ended up getting in contact with a couple of alums who ended up convincing me that the Academy was the perfect place to continue my education and further myself professionally as well.
What is your greatest memory (or favorite thing) about your time at the Academy?
I would say my favorite thing about the Academy is the endless possibilities for professional and educational development and the plethora of different opportunities to explore the things you enjoy. With internships at the hospital or with any Ball State faculty member it provides students with opportunities that are extremely difficult to come across at their home high school.
What are some of your extracurricular activities?
I am involved in a wide range of extracurriculars, serving as president of the Latin American Student Union, swim manager for the Burris team, a member of the quiz bowl and ethics bowl teams, a track athlete, an AP Chemistry TA, a tutor, and a musician in the Burris band. Additionally, I work as a biochemical research assistant at the University of Notre Dame.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to get my bachelors in biochemistry and later pursue an MD/PhD where I hope to work as a research physician specializing in cancer research and oncology. As I finish my time here at the academy, I am also finishing an associate degree of science from Ivy Tech in biology alongside my honors diploma.
