The Science of Boats:
Sink or Float?

Saturday, February 29, 2020 · 9:00 a.m.–Noon · Grades 6-9 · FREE!
At the Indiana Academy

In this exciting, hands-on program students will learn about Archimedes’ principle and use it to make predictions on whether selected objects will float or sink. Students will build their own boats out of selected materials, with the challenge to build a boat that can hold as much weight as possible without sinking. Along the way students will investigate different boat designs, discussing the pros and cons to assist in designing their own boats.

Virtual Reality

Saturday, April 4, 2020 · 9:00 a.m.–Noon · Grades 6-9 · FREE!
At the Indiana Academy

Students will create their own world – as real as they want it to be. They will learn the basics of 3D programming and explore objects and environments in 3D using the Oculus Rift while learning the history of virtual reality.

The History of Street Food

Saturday, April 11, 2020 · 9:00 a.m.–Noon · Grades 6-9 · FREE!
At the Indiana Academy

The roots of street food can take us way back into history. It is believed that as the first distribution point of street food, small fried fish were sold on the streets in ancient Greece. And now, we see food trucks at fairs, street corners, and sporting events! Urbanization and street food go hand in hand! Participants will make and sample a variety of street snacks*.
