Alumni Spotlight: Stephanie Kemery ’03
Stephanie Kemery MSN, RN, CMSRN is an assistant professor of Nursing at the University of Indianapolis. She teaches psychiatric nursing and nursing research to undergraduate nursing students. She holds a baccalaureate degree in nursing from the Indiana University School of Nursing (2007), a master’s degree in nursing with a concentration in education from the University of Indianapolis (2014), and is current pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. In addition to her academic credentials, she is a certified medical-surgical nurse (CMSRN).
Originally from Seymour, IN, Stephanie decided to attend the Academy to engage in diverse learning opportunities beyond what was available at her home high school. She credits the Academy with expanding her worldview and providing her with academic challenges that prepared her not only for undergraduate classes, but also graduate and doctoral coursework. “The people I met at the Academy ignited my passion for learning about other cultures and really set the stage for the dissertation planning in which I am currently engaged.” While at the Academy from 2001-2003, Stephanie was a member of Parliament, a Student Ambassador, and served on the graduation planning committee.
In addition to teaching and pursuing a doctoral degree, Stephanie is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society for nurses; the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses, Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association, the Indiana League for Nursing, the American Nurses Association, the Indiana State Nurses Association, and GLMA: Healthcare Professionals Advancing LGBT Equality. She volunteers with Thrive 360, a hunger relief organization, Eskenazi Health, and on the peer reviewer panel of specialty nursing journals. She was recently published in The Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing.
Stephanie currently lives in Noblesville, IN with her incredibly supportive husband, David, and their two daughters.
