Alumni Spotlight: Jason Irwin ’93

Jason Irwin is a member of the Indiana Academy Class of 1993. Coming from a small Indiana high school, the Academy experience opened his eyes to a new world of possibilities and exposed him to people that have become lifelong friends. Those friendships were developed because of a shared vision of learning and growth both in and out of the classroom at the Academy.

After graduating from the Academy in 1993, Jason attended Indiana University on an ROTC scholarship and double majored in Business Marketing and Management. Upon graduation in 1997, Jason was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on active duty with the U.S. Army serving for 10 years in increasingly complex roles as an Armor Officer. His last rank attained was Major and he was a Detachment Commander serving in Germany. In the Army he served in a variety of roles such as Company Commander, Logistics Officer, Operations Officer and Executive Officer as well as in numerous locations around the world including Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kuwait and Iraq. In Iraq in 2004, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for exceptional meritorious service.

In 2007, Jason transitioned from the Army to go back to school and attended the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University earning an MBA in 2009. During his studies, he also participated in an MBA exchange program in Shanghai, China and attended classes at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). Upon graduation, Jason moved to the East Coast to work for E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company in Wilmington, Delaware. Since joining DuPont, Jason has worked as a Global Marketing Manager in charge of Oil and Gas applications in the Performance Polymers business and a Six Sigma Black Belt in DuPont’s Protection Technologies business. In 2013, he graduated from DuPont’s Management Leadership Development Program (MLDP). Jason is currently a North American Sales Manager for DuPont’s Performance Polymers business. He leads a regional sales team and is responsible for the business strategy and sales growth. In addition, Jason founded and currently leads the DuPont Veterans Network which is a corporately sponsored employee resource group that seeks to advocate on veterans affairs and employment within the DuPont Company and to instill the finest traditions of military service to DuPont.

He has traveled extensively and lived overseas in five countries outside of the US. In his free time, he loves SCUBA diving and visiting significant cultural and historical sites around the world. To date, he’s been fortunate to have explored the Great Wall of China, Hanging Garden of Babylon, Taj Mahal in India, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Great Pyramids of Egypt and nearly 300 medieval castles in Europe. Jason currently lives in Middletown, Delaware with his wife Susan (Academy Class of ’93) and children, Tyler and Kaitlyn.
